Shelby Gets $200,000 to Clean Up Rainbow Hotel

The award is part of $69.3 million in brownfields grants provided around the country to redevelop contaminated properties, protect public health and create jobs.
The EPA says the Rainbow Hotel on Main Street was used as a hotel from 1923 through the early 1990s but is now contaminated with heavy metals, inorganic contaminants and mold.
The brownfields grant will be used to make the building ready for reuse.
