Slither Along with Bitterroot Garter Snakes
You're walking down a forest path mid-morning, maybe at the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge. Then, something moves by your foot. It's a snake!
But look quick, because it disappears almost immediately.
That's the common garter snake. It's a little guy and you'll find out more about it on this week's Metcalf Wildlife Journal. Bob Danley is our information guy at the refuge near Stevensville. We interview him every Thursday at 8:05 a.m. on KLYQ 1240 AM in Hamilton.
Here's our YouTube version, with more amazing photos by Mike Daniels. (We have lots of these reports there, by the way.)
