About 850 gallons of gasoline was spilled in a Saturday morning tanker truck accident on Highway 12 in Idaho, east of Lowell.
The crash was along the Lochsa River - about 75 feet away - when a tanker driven by Marco Williamson of Florence MT failed to negotiate a curve at about 8am Saturday. The tanker was carrying diesel fuel and gasoline, but only the gasoline leaked out.
Crews from Lewiston ID recovered 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel and about 1,000 gallons of gasoline. Officials say none of the gasoline reached the Lochsa River, however about 200 feet of absorbent boom was placed in the water as a precaution.
