The Federal and state wildland fire agencies will rescind Stage 1 fire restrictions as of 12:01 am Wednesday, Sept 21. The Northern Rockies Coordination Group said the counties of west central Montana will also rescind their restrictions. However, open burning (such as lawn waste, etc) will still be determined by individual counties.
The stage 1 restrictions on forest lands included no campfires and no smoking, except in some instances.
Officials said the moist weather pattern has helped reduce the fire threat.
Restrictions still are in effect on the Flathead Reservation along the Flathead River corridor.
