Telescopes have allowed us to see images never thought possible years ago. A free presentation at the North Valley Public Library Tuesday, November 9, will be a primer on little telescopes to big telescopes.

Dean Spieth will have plenty of slides and videos from NASA space telescopes and Earth-bound telescopes in his presentation at 6 p.m. in the Stevensville library's community room.

He'll bring along some backyard telescope varieties, too, and explain the difference between refractors, reflectors and Schmidt-Newtonian instruments.

Great photos are possible with the space telescopes and he'll talk about the technology that allows pictures like the one of Jupiter we've included. The details of that science is complex and it's not a program for the younger kids. The presentation is aimed at adults and teens.
