Sleeping Child Fire – A Close Call

The fire started in the lightning storms the weekend of July 29th and has grown this past weekend to over 650 acres

Selway-Bitterroot Fire Update – Monday August 6

Bitterroot National Forest officials are monitoring the Salamander forest fire in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness on the West Fork Ranger District.

The fire started from lightning strikes July 21 and is at least 200 acres in size, but is not threatening any structures

Four areas have been opened, temporarily, for firewood gathering this year.

Tod McKay of the Bitterroot National Forest said two of the areas are in the Sula Ranger District - Tepee Point and Colvert Creek
