Roads Closed Around Saddle Complex

The 748 acre Saddle Complex of forest fires in the Salmon-Challis and Bitterroot National Forests continues to spread in every direction, causing more closures in the area.

Six New Wildfires In The Bitterroot National Forest

Firefighters are on the scene to six new lightning caused wildfires on the Bitterroot National Forest. All of the fires started last night and are burning in the West Fork Ranger District. The Lavene Fire is approximately two acres and is burning actively in timber just north of the Boulder Point Lookout, approximately one mile from the Trapper Peak Trailhead. More Dam Work Ahead

Workers will be repairing the Tin Cup Dam, a 1906 structure in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness west of Darby, Montana.
Crews will start the project August 1st and will repair the embankment and modify the dam's spillway

Bold Black Bears Bother Big Creek Campers

Three different camping groups have had their food stolen by black bears near Big Creek Lake on the Stevensville Ranger District.

Crews from the West Fork Ranger District will be working on the Nez Perce Pass from July 11 to July 22.
The road needs some shoulder work between mileposts 11 and 14. The crews will be working on the paved portion of the road up and over the pass

A tree thinning project is being proposed for the Lost Trail Ski Area. The area would be between ski runs in the area accessed by the Saddle Mountain Lift (Chair #4 to you skiers).
