In a move that will probably delight and disgust convenience store shoppers at the same time, 7-11 has begun offering mashed potatoes and gravy via a vending machine. Alas, the machines aren’t available here in the US yet. As strange as it sounds, we’d probably be first on line if they were.
If you’ve ever sat down to watch something on the Food Network and suddenly gotten hungry, it wasn’t a coincidence. New research indicates looking at “food porn” — images of sumptuous edibles — actually does stimulate the appetite.
Do remember Makin’ Whoopie Pie? You could buy that Ben & Jerry’s flavor, which was chocolate ice cream augmented by marshmallows and devil’s food cooks, 10 years ago. Unfortunately, the concoction didn’t prove popular enough and the Vermont-based ice cream makers laid Makin’ Whoopie Pie to rest in 2003. Literally.
