Forest Service Working on Two Small Fires
Missoula Rural Assistant Chief Tom Ziegler says the U. S. Forest Service and Department of Natural Resources and Conservation are working on to small fires in the Missoula area. One fire near the Blue Mountain recreation area was burning in rugged terrain where there are no roads of trails, so helicopters have been making water drops on the fire.

Ambrose Fire Near Stevensville Burns In Lolo National Forest
August 9, 2011 Firefighters and two tanker helicopters were dispatched to the Ambrose Saddle Fire about 12 miles east of Stevensville on the Lolo National Forest. The fire was first reported late yesterday afternoon. The fire is burning actively and additional resources are being ordered to suppress the fire.
