‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Will Not Be Changed Due to Carrie Fisher’s Death

Though it felt kind of wrong, when Carrie Fisher died in December a lot of us wondered how the Star Wars movies would weather her loss. Had she finished shooting all her scenes? (She had, at least for Episode 8.) How integral to the plot of Episodes 8 and 9 was Leia going to be? Would the story need to be changed to accommodate for her absence? Some wondered if her likeness would be Tarkin’d onto a body stand-in for the final movie, which felt wrong even to think about. (It’s not happening, thankfully.) Lucasfilm has a lot to consider after losing one of its biggest stars, but it sounds like none of The Last Jedi is going to be changed because of her death.

Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ Movie Reveals How Han Met Chewie and ‘Got His Name,’ Whatever That Means

Just last night, Woody Harrelson offered a few details regarding his role in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s young Han Solo movie, in which the actor (and former pothead, thankyouverymuch) will play mentor to Alden Ehrenreich. As for the rest of it, Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed some new plot intel for the Star Wars spinoff, which apparently explores how Han met Chewie and acquired the Millennium Falcon, as well as…well, that’s the confusing part.

‘Ghostbusters’ Producer Says There Are Still Plans for More Movies in Development

While last summer’s Ghostbusters didn’t get off to a very auspicious start, due to “My childhood!”-wailing Internet trolls and bad box office numbers coupled with the fact that the movie has its hilarious moments but was just fine overall, that doesn’t mean we’ll never see Gilbert, Patty, Yates, and Holtzmann onscreen again. In fact, the studio has a number of films in development, according to Ghostbusters’ producer Ivan Reitman (who also produced the 1984 version).

It might be a tale as old as time, but audiences have proven there’s still a few petals left on that old flower. Let’s take a look at how things shook out this past weekend with some of the expected grosses.

J.K. Simmons on ‘All Nighter,’ the ‘La La Land’ Oscar Controversy, and Playing J. Jonah Jameson Again

You think you know the “J.K. Simmons type” and then you look at his IMDb page. Yes, he’s played a lot of tough and scary dudes; the sadistic white supremacist on Oz, the terrifying music teacher in Whiplash, which netted Simmons an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. But for every intimidating Simmons role, there’s a softer one; the big-hearted father in Juno or the incredulous cop in the last Terminator. There aren’t too many actors who could convincingly play both bully blowhard newspaper publisher J. Jonah Jameson and crusading, confident Commissioner Gordon, but Simmons is about to in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Seven Writers Are Now at Work on ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’

Pitting Godzilla against King Kong, something that has already happened once before in movie history, may sound like a simple matter. But no, you can’t just write “Godzilla vs. Kong” on a blank piece of paper and expect it to happen.
