Weekend Box Office Report: All Hail The Truly Wondrous ‘Wonder Woman’

Based on how this weekend’s box office numbers shaped up, odds are good that you either saw Wonder Woman this weekend or you avoided the theater altogether. It was a record-setting few days for everyone’s favorite warrior princess  —  sorry, Xena  —  but things were decidedly less rosy if your movie was… well, literally anything else. Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Pirates’ Plunders While ‘Baywatch’ Blunders

There was a time not so long ago when Memorial Day weekend was a big deal for Hollywood, but this weekend felt more like a bunch of under-performers gathering together and learning very little about life. Call it the anti-Breakfast Club, if you will. The New ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Will Be the First Movie Released in the U.S. in the ScreenX Format

The movies are getting bigger all the time — quite literally in the case of ScreenX, a new theatrical format from Korean company CJ 4DPLEX, the same company behind the 4DX technology you may have already seen invade your local multiplex. Johnny Depp Turned Down an Early ‘Pirates 5’ Draft Because It Had a Female Villain

Man, Johnny Depp is having one PR disaster after another these days. Between lat year’s abuse allegations to this month’s hot goss about his inability to stop himself from spending money, you’d think he’d have run out of messes to get himself into by now. Well, shockingly, you’d be wrong, because news just got out that Depp had rejected an early draft of the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales script because its villain was a woman.

Paul McCartney Teases His ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ Character

It would seem that there are two stages every iconic musician must got through in the twilight of their career: induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a guest spot in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Such was the case with Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, who  —  in a nod to Johnny Depp’s appropriation of elements of his persona  — appeared in two films as the father of Jack Sparrow. And now the franchise has pulled in another iconic musician, with Beatles legend Paul McCartney sharing his slightly foppish character.
