August 27, 2012 The cumulative effect of the smoke in the Bitterroot Valley is listed as "Unhealthy," using particulate measurements from the monitoring station at the Ravalli County Courthouse in Hamilton.
The Unhealthy setting means that people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children should avoid any outdoor activity, and everyone else should avoid prolonged exertion

August 19, 2012 Sunday morning dawned hot and smoky in the Bitterroot Valley.
Smoke settled along the Bitterroot Mountains and Sapphire Mountains as Idaho forest fires increased their size Saturday. The Bitterroot National Forest is at Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, but there are no new fires to report this morning
