Bitterroot Forest Areas Opened

The weather is allowing the Bitterroot National Forest Supervisor to reopen the closed areas at the Gold Pan Complex in the south end of the valley.

Mudslide Closes Selway Road

The Magruder Corridor is open four hours a day, but the nearby Selway Road is blocked by a mudslide.

Gold Pan Fire Jumps Toward the Magruder Corridor

The Gold Pan forest fire in the Frank Church Wilderness is now over 5,000 acres and the fire has jumped the Selway River. It is moving closer to the Magruder Ranger Station and a Type 2 Fire Management Team will take over the Gold Pan and the much smaller Goat wilderness fire this weekend

Bitterroot National Forest officials are monitoring the Salamander forest fire in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness on the West Fork Ranger District.

Saddle and Stud Fires Move East

The wilderness forests fires that make up the Saddle complex in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness have grown to over 700 acres during the weekend.
The fires are being managed for resource benefits and crews are in place at Horse Creek Hot Springs, Oreana Lookout, Gattin Ranch and a small mine in the Horse Creek drainage for possible structure protection
