Selway-Bitterroot Fire Update – Monday August 6

Bitterroot National Forest officials are monitoring the Salamander forest fire in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness on the West Fork Ranger District.

The fire started from lightning strikes July 21 and is at least 200 acres in size, but is not threatening any structures

Saddle Complex Tuesday Morning – 18,275 Acres

The jump in size Monday night on the Saddle Complex of forest fires was not repeated Tuesday. The growth was small in comparison, but the blaze is still growing. As of Tuesday morning, the estimated size is 18,275 acres

Saddle and Stud Fires Move East

The wilderness forests fires that make up the Saddle complex in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness have grown to over 700 acres during the weekend.
The fires are being managed for resource benefits and crews are in place at Horse Creek Hot Springs, Oreana Lookout, Gattin Ranch and a small mine in the Horse Creek drainage for possible structure protection
