The Hamilton Fireworks display at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds was short but beautiful.

The clear skies did not darken until about 11 p.m., when the first of the large shells was launched by Steve Boshae's crew on the north end of the fairgrounds infield - the traditional location for the show.

Meanwhile, the city was bright with private displays on the ground and in the air from late afternoon until after midnight. The booms and zips caused people's pets to shiver and shake, but brought smiles and laughter from the humans, celebrating Independence Day.
