The Northern Lights were visible in the Bitterroot Valley Friday night and Saturday morning.

The skies cleared enough in the Hamilton area to see the green glow. At the same time, Earth was passing through some debris from Comet Enke, which provided some surprisingly large meteors for a few nights. The fireballs were part of the Taurid meteor shower.

The aurora photo (see above) includes a jet contrail at the top of the image, a large cloud in the middle and below that, the lights of Missoula. By the way, a good place to grab aurora alerts is spaceweather.com. We use it weekly to see what the sun is sending our way.
