KLYQ Radio has been helping with getting the entertainment scheduled at the Ravalli County Fair's Entertainment Stage for several years now. And this year seemed like an unusually great mashup of local talent.

Of course, we shared the stage with nationally known Michael Mezmer, an acclaimed hypnotist, who always draws a crowd and a fine group of volunteers who are put through the hypnotic suggestions such as drinking "giggle water," riding a motorcycle or a horse, dancing, and playing a musical instrument - in their minds.

We also had the seventh annual Ravalli County Fair poetry winners, who read their individual efforts on stage. Then there were the flowing performances of Ballet Bitterroot on the grass in front of the stage. The Five Valley Accordions filled the stage for an hour and the Country Step Cloggers and Line Dancers strutted for another hour. Billy "The Wizard" Angus started off the shows on Wednesday, and the FFA Cake, Cookie and Pie Auction was back on the agenda Wednesday evening.

Of course, the Bitterroot Community Band was loud and proud Saturday, and we had another annual visit from the little kids of the Sunshine Generation.

We were treated to some fine singing with a recital from Eric Monson's vocal classes at the Bitterroot School of Music.

And, for the first time ever, we had a Bigfoot "calling contest," part of an hour promoting the Big Sky Bigfoot Conference September 22-23 at the Bitterroot River Inn in Missoula. Truly eclectic.

And all was masterfully produced by Rob of "A Sound Solution."

Add to that, appearances by the Ravalli County Rodeo Queen royalty and it was a year to remember at the KLYQ Free Stage. Thanks, everyone!
