Top 10 1240 KLYQ Stories of 2011

The area wasn't hit too badly by forest fires this year, but those that did occur topped the news on our website, as did a handful of sporting, community and national events.

The Indian Fire, which was the first major forest fire in the area this season, was located in the Salmon-Challis National Forest south of the Bitterroot Valley.

The Saddle Fire, which started in Idaho, spread over 600 acres and into Montana. It was a big newsmaker for the area (as you'll note when you see it again in our top 10 list).

A forest fire, known as The Saddle Fire, south of the Bitterroot Valley lit up the Salmon-Challis National Forest south of Woods Creek Pass in late August.
