Transient Arrested for Stabbing a Missoula Man On Reserve Street Bridge [AUDIO]
A local transient, identified in court documents as John Mulligan, appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Monday, charged with stabbing a Missoula man on the Reserve Street Bridge over the weekend.
Public Information Officer Travis Welsh says the incident was reported to 9-1-1 at about 9:30 on Saturday night, July 12.
“9-1-1 was notified about a male who had apparently been stabbed on the Reserve Street Bridge,” Welsh said. “Officers responded and found a 32 year-old male with stab wounds to the lower abdomen and on one hand. He was transported to St. Patrick Hospital, where he was subsequently treated and released.”
Court records have identified the suspect as a homeless man, John Mulligan, 56. Welsh said he was found nearby and was placed under arrest. Court records also indicate that Mulligan was wearing a knife sheath, but no knife was found on the suspect.
Mulligan appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Monday afternoon and was charged with two counts of felony assault with a weapon for the stabbing, and one misdemeanor count of assault for becoming belligerent after his arrest, and spitting on the shoes and pants of Corporal Ariana Adams.
Mulligan’s bail was set at $50,000.
