Turkeys are Showing Off at the Metcalf Refuge
The Bitterroot Valley has a growing population of wild turkeys. That includes the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge near Stevensville.
In this week’s Metcalf Wildlife Journal, Bob Danley talks about the male turkeys displaying their feathers to the females in a springtime ritual.
The audio report is on our YouTube 1240KLYQ channel, where we have quite a few of our Wildlife Journal reports archived.
The refuge is also seeing the return of osprey and many types of songbirds. Visit the refuge. It’s always free and you can visit on any day of the week. Stay in the car and watch the birds land on the ponds or take a hike on one of the nature trails.
