No matter what a woman tells you, there are certain things she expects to do or get on Valentine’s Day. Men may think that Valentine’s Day is just a made up holiday, an excuse for greeting card companies and retailers to get you to buy more stuff from them.

I will admit that Valentine’s Day is a holiday full of excuses. To women, the excuses that this holiday brings are good ones, ones that call for a change from the ordinary and mundane and ones that allow their significant others to show them a little extra affection. These are the kind of excuses we women like.

  • It’s an excuse to spend some much needed time alone with my hubby. Being the parents of four boys, it’s not always easy to find time just for each other.

  • It’s an excuse to eat chocolate. We women love any excuse we can find to eat chocolate and Valentine’s Day is one of the best.

  • It’s an excuse to put on something a little sexy and go to bed a little early.

  • It’s an excuse to dress up. If you’re a mom like me, you don’t get a chance to dress up very often so getting all dolled up to go to out with your spouse is a nice change.

  • It’s an excuse to eat out at a real restaurant. We don’t have to eat French fries and fast food. We can enjoy a nice bottle of wine over a dinner with no screaming or crying kids.

  • It’s an excuse to slow dance in your living room. It sounds sappy because it is, but a woman loves for her man to put on a slow song, hold her tight and slow dance with her. So romantic.
