Voters Say “No”
Two school levy requests in the Bitterroot Valley failed in elections Tuesday.
The Hamilton School Technology Levy failed by a vote of 1,506 in favor and 1,919 against in a mail-in election. The levy would’ve raised $235,000 yearly for computers, program and tech maintenance throughout the district.
Meanwhile, the voters in Florence turned down a general fund request of $150,000. The vote was 554 in favor and 633 against.
In Hamilton, two seats were filled on the School Board, incumbent Jim Shea had 2,029 votes and Nancy Balance had 1,411. Also running was E Jerry Jessee with 1,291.
Florence-Carlton voters elected Vickie Cornish and Dorothy Rhodes to uncontested trustee postions on the school board.
No levy election in Corvallis, but three positions were filled on the board. Leading the way was Ginny Hoffman with 401 votes, then Dan Wolsky with 345, and Adam Troy Sangster with 314. Also running was Robert Jones with 187 votes.
Results are unofficial, according to Clerk and Recorder Regina Plettenberg.
