Friday, October 12, the men will be walking ... but not in their regular footwear. As part of the international "Walk A Mile in Her Shoes," a group of guys will be slipping into some "larger" size high heels and walking a one-mile route through downtown Hamilton. The walk is to raise men's awareness about the serious causes and effects of men's sex-related violence against women. SAFE in the Bitterroot, (Supporters of Abuse-Free Environments) sponsors the walk along with White Ribbon Week and the annual "Report to the Community" partly to raise awareness of domestic violence issues.

To be in the walk, guys will pay $20 and youth walkers $10. They will gather and register for the event at the corner of 3rd and Main in Hamilton at about 5:30 p.m. Friday and get outfitted with shoes (or bring their own). The walk will start at 6 p.m. and wend its way around Hamilton's Central Business District. Women are encouraged to join the walk, but you must wear comfortable walking shoes! Truly, the shoe will be on the other foot.
