Walkin’ at the Fairgrounds to Fight Cancer
The athletic shoes are laced up, the teams have formed and now the American Cancer Society "Relay for Life" in Ravalli County will start at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 30.
Again this year, the Bitterroot Relay is shorter than in the past, ending at 12 Midnight. Previously, the walking started a littie later, but the walkers kept it up until dawn, walking in shifts from the teams.
The walking starts with the "Survivors" lap at 4 p.m. They are joined by their care-givers and many continue walking with the rest of the teams to begin the fund-raising evening.
The walk route is in front of the Fairgrounds Event Center, with team tents on the grassy area to the east. There will be music, raffles, card games and more to keep the walkers moving through the night.
