If all has gone as planned, the Wankel T rex fossil skeleton has arrived in Washington, D.C., after a cross-country trip in a FedEx semi.

The skeleton was packed up at the Museum of the Rockies and sent off in a caravan from Bozeman, Montana, last Friday, April 11. There was a "going away" party then, and there will be a welcoming ceremony in our nation's capitol.

The fossil is one of the most complete T rex skeletons ever found and will be a highlight of the new Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History dinosaur display.

The 65-million-year old fossil will be on loan for 50 years. It will then be returned to its home museum at the Montana State University campus.
