The Bitterroot River is still running fast and muddy, but the level of the current is still within the banks.
As of Friday afternoon at 5pm, at the Darby water gauge, the level was 6.2 feet, over a foot below flood stage at 7.5 feet.
Meanwhile, at Bell Crossing near Victor, the level at 5pm Friday was 10.05 feet with a flood stage about a foot higher at 11 feet.
The Memorial Day weather should keep the river below flood stage, according to the National Weather Service. That's good news and bad news. Lower flood danger is good news. Cruddy weather for a three-day weekend is bad news. Make the best of it, every. AND STAY OFF THE RIVER!!!
