The Bitterroot River water level has dropped again during this period of cool weather. The river gauge at Darby was at 4.99 feet Tuesday morning, about 2 and half feet below flood stage. And the Bell Crossing gauge showed the level there also about 2 and half feet below flood stage at 8.56 feet Tuesday morning.
With the current weather forecasts, officials are predicting the next time the river will reach flood stage is Wednesday June 8th or Thursday June 9th.
This up-and-down water level may continue through June, as the heavy mountain snowpack melts.
