Weather System Could be Trouble for Area Fires [AUDIO]
The National Weather Service is predicting a strong weather system to move through Missoula and up the Bitterroot Valley starting tonight and into tomorrow.
Meteorologist Mike Johnson says strong easterly winds could push smoke out of the Missoula Valley, but at the same time adversely affect the Sawtooth Fire currently burning in the Bitterroot National Forest.
Fire Information Officer Greg DeNitto says winds out of the east may push the fire up over the slope and down into an adjacent valley. Fire officials say they will monitor weather conditions and prepare for whatever might happen.
