Who’s Shooting Our Western Montana Deer Out of Season?
Two more deer have been shot and left abandoned in Western Montana this past weekend, June 15 and 16..
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks warden Lou Royce said that a mule deer buck was killed in the Bitterroot District 270, near Blacktail Point.
That incident, up the East Fork, happened sometime Friday or early morning Saturday.
The other deer was found off Fish Creek Road west of Missoula, a mile south of the Burdett Creek Trailhead on private property. Warden Justin Singleterry said a neighbor found the deer and reported it on the TIP-MONT hotline.
The TIP-MONT line is available for anyone who might information on these and other recent deer poaching incidents. The number is 1-800-847-6668. Information leading to a conviction could bring a $1,000 reward.
The Ravalli County Fish and Wildlife Association is also offering a reward of $500 for information that leads to a conviction in the East Fork of the Bitterroot case.
