Winter at Gird Point on the Bitterroot National Forest

East of Hamilton, in the Bitterroot National Forest, is the Gird Point Lookout. It is no longer operational, but the historic site has escaped a couple of forest fires in recent years.

When the snow falls, a telephoto look provides a stark landscape of Gird Point with the burned area below, framed by the forest. This is from Hamilton on Thanksgiving afternoon, November 22, 2012.
