A Blue Sky Greeted the Special Olympians at Lost Trail Tuesday
Day One was bright at Lost Trail Powder Mountain for the Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics.
Tuesday, January 24, competitors ran time trials in snowboarding, downhill and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
When the events were completed, the teams lined up for the Grand Entry and ceremonies opening the 36th Bitterroot Winter Special Olympics. MAPS Media Arts is filming the events this year for a promotional video that will be shared statewide.
Organizer Randy Hodgson welcomed the athletes to the event. He and the pack of volunteers made sure the competitors ate well, competed safely and enjoyed themselves.
After a dance tonight at the Bitterroot River Inn in Hamilton, the athletes will head back to Lost Trail Wednesday for a full day of competition and awarding of individual medals on the medal stand in front of the lodge.
