After One Day, Hamilton Boys and Sidney Girls Lead State A Golf
The Class A High School Golf Tournament has completed the first of two days of competition at the Hamilton Golf Course September 30.
Predicted rain did not happen and the day was sunny for the boys and girls on the course southeast of Hamilton.
The Hamilton boys were leading after one day with a team score of 312, followed by Polson with 329 and Billings Central, tied with Laurel, each with 333.
Top team for the girls after a day was Sidney with 369, Whitefish with 386, Fergus County with 395 and Billings Central with 408. Polson was in fifth with 423.
Top players for the boys - Hamilton's Max Toenjes with a 69, followed by Billings Central's Liam Clancy with 73 and Paul O'Neil of Laurel with 78.
And leading after the first round for the girls was Kaelyn Volk of Sidney with an 82. There's a tie for second between Tricia Joyce of Butte Central and Breilyn Riggon of Glendive - each with an 83. Hamilton's Melissa Kimp was tied with Teagan Fee of Havre at 94 for 13th place.
Another full day of golf Saturday in the State competition.
