In the Bitterroot Valley, we know that the Big Hole Battlefield is south and east of us, traveling over Lost Trail and Chief Joseph Passes to get there.
In cyberspace, though, the National Park Service attraction is now on Facebook. Leslie Lula of the battlefield announced the Facebook creation this week. She wrote, the site is hoped to "create a dialogue with visitors in real time and allow the public to post their impressions and reactions to the story of the Nez Perce."
The page will also have contributions from Spaulding, and Bear Paw Battlefield, covering other portions of the Nez Perce Trail.
You can see the Facebook page here.
You can go the official park site here.
And if you want to Twitter with the personnel, click on their Twitter account.
The battlefield is heading into the winter season November 6th, with a temporary contact station still open and free to the public from 10am to 5pm every day. The main visitor center is still undergoing renovations.
The battlefield will be closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.
