The Big Hole National Battlefield summer speaker series starts this weekend with Dr Robert Brown, executive director of the Fort Missoula Historical Museum.

Dr Brown will perform a first-person account of Major Rawn, who served at Fort Missoula during the 1800s. He founded Fort Missoula and in 1877, as Chief Joseph led his people from Idaho over Lolo Pass and through the Bitterroot Valley, Rawn participated in Fort Fizzle at Lolo and also was involved in the Big Hole battle.

According to Leslie Lula of the National Park Service, Brown's talks will be at the National Battlefield visitor Center Saturday, June 29, at 3 p.m. and on Sunday, June 30, at 12 noon and 3 p.m.

The Big Hole National Battlefield is 17 miles east of Lost Trail Pass on State Highway 43. It is 10 miles west of Wisdom, MT.
