The nearby Big Hole National Battlefield starts summer hours Sunday, May 1.

The main visitor center will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, seven days a week, according to Leslie Lula of the National Park Service.

The Coyote Camp, developed for schools, will be May 23-27. Interested schools can find out more information at the park website.

The summer speaker series will start June 25. The series runs every weekend through august 14, Lula said in a news release.

To get there from the Bitterroot Valley, drive to the top of Lost Trail Pass on US 93, turn onto Montana 43, Chief Joseph Pass and drive to the bottom of the pass, where the battlefield is off to your left.
