Bitterroot Election – Pool Issues Fail
The Bitterroot Aquatic Center renovation and construction bond and an accompanying operations levy both failed in the Tuesday municipal elections in Ravalli County. In the only Hamilton city council race, Robin Pruitt (see photo above) became the new Hamilton City councilperson in Ward 1, defeating long-time councilman Joe Petrusaitus. The voter turnout was high for a non-general election at about 47 percent, according to Election Administrator Regina Plettenberg.
Here are the results from the three city elections and the Bitterroot Aquatic Center levies. Write-in votes and ballots hand-delivered to the County Administration Center have not been counted yet. Total results are expected Wednesday mid-morning.

Aquatic Center Director Fern Schreckengust said the pool issues will be brought back to the voters next year. The voter turnout was about 47 percent with about 6,300 ballots returned from a mailing of over 13,900.
