Bitterroot Natl Forest Campgrounds Begin to ‘Winterize’
September 23 is the first day of Autumn, and Bitterroot National Forest is closing up some of its campgrounds for the winter.
The Lower Como Campground will be closing September 21. Though the Rock Creek Horse Camp will be open until closed by snow and Three Frogs Campground will be open through October, there will be no services starting September 21.
There will be no services after September 20 at Charles Water Campground and Rombo Campground. Services will be shut off and the campgrounds closed on September 23 at Spring Gulch Campground, Indian Trees Campground and Warm Springs Campground on the Sula Ranger District.
Other campgrounds are open with no services year-round or until closed by snow. Remember to "pack it in, pack it out," with garbage and other supplies.
Tod McKay of the Bitterroot National Forest said that further information about recreation areas is available online at their Discover the Bitterroot website and at any ranger station.
