The Bitterroot Public Library needs a little "sprucing up" and will close for a week to do it.

The Hamilton library on State Street will be closed from Monday, November 25 through Saturday, November 30, for general painting and some renovations.

The library opened in 1916 with a land grant from Margaret Daly and funding from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. The building allowed the library to move out of City Hall. It was enlarged in 1988 to its present size, while maintaining its historic facade.

The library has a popular meeting room, and has special programs for everyone from the youngest readers and to those who write. Its computer and multi-media facilities have been growing each year.
