At the Lee Matcalf National Wildlife Refuge near Stevensville, and at ponds, lakes and streams throughout Montana right now, the Canada Goose population is increasing. The eggs have been hatching and as they get used to their surroundings, the goslings are starting their swimming lessons (see photos below) with close attention from mom and dad.

Besides the swimming time, the little fuzzy goslings need to be careful crossing the road, too. And there's always an adult to help them across - single file, please! (photo below) The little guys have got to be wondering - when does flight school start? Mike has been seeing lots of spring birds. flowers (and the moon) and presents photos of them on his Facebook page.
