Tuesday, December 31st, at about 2:30 in the afternoon, the Fairgrounds Road intersection of US 93 in Hamilton was shut down and stayed closed until late in the night. Hamilton Mayor Dominic Farrenkopf told KLYQ News that a crew burying cable under the highway hit and broke a city water line. Hamilton Public Works Department located the break and cut into the asphalt, requiring closure of the northbound lanes of US 93 and closing the main entrance to Fairgrounds Road. He said electric lines were also affected by the incident.

The opening in the roadway was small but cannot be repaved until spring, so the ride might be a little rough during the rest of the winter months. Farrenkopf thanked the hard work of the crews and law officers during the rainy evening and completing the work.
