The Bitterroot College in Hamilton will host the opening presentation of the Bitterroot Valley's activities celebrating Montana Cooperative Impact Week. The local events are being organized by the Ravalli County Economic Development Authority. Tuesday, May 1, thefirst event at 2 p.m. will be Montana Cooperative Development Director Jan Brown talking about co-ops, followed by presentations of the Crucible Workers Co-op and BudWood Cooperative.

Also on Tuesday, at 4 p.m., there will presentations and a social hour at the Bitterroot Brewery in Hamilton. Julie Foster of the Economic Development Authority will talk about how cooperatives can be a new ownership and investment model for small businesses. Claire Kemp of the Hamilton Downtown Association and banker Jamie Tadvick will also add to the conversation.

Wednesday, May 2, the activities include:

  • 10 a.m. - Riverside Crossing Adult Housing Cooperative with Paul Travitz at the Ravalli County Council on Aging, 310 Old Corvallis road, Hamilton.
  • 1:30 p.m. - Tour of Clay Works Co-op, 808 South 1st, Hamilton.
  • 2:15 p.m. - Tour of Loyal to Local Co-op and Montana Poultry Growers Co-op at 175 Skalkaho Highway, south of Hamilton.
  • 4 p.m. - A two-hour reception and public meeting at the Bitterroot Federal Credit Union, 706 South 1st Street in Hamilton. Marilyn Besich will speak about Rural Investment Co-ops.
  • Thursday, May 3, the activities include:

  • 11:30 a.m. - Valley Solar Tour with the Ravalli Electric Cooperative, 1096 Meridian Road, north of Woodside.
  • 3 p.m. - A two-hour reception and public meeting at the Ravalli County Federal Credit Union, 501 North 1st in Hamilton, with Marilyn Besich'es Co-op presentation repeated.
  • Saturday, May 5, the Hamilton Farmers Market Co-op will have its first full market of the year from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
