Daly Mansion Continues History Series Two More Weekends
The Spring History Speaker Series at the Daly Mansion, northeast of Hamilton, has added two more presentations. The first is Saturday, April 6, when Judy Wrede will present the story of the Gerard family during pre-World War I in Germany. One of Marcus Daly's daughters married James Gerard, who was a U.S. Ambassador in that country until he was asked to leave during the run-up to World War I. He wrote a book "My Four Years in Germany," which was turned into a silent movie by Warner Brothers.
The second presentation is April 13 and is a "re-do" of Mo Lischke's examination of Daly and Gerard personal letters and documents from the Mansfield Library at the University of Montana. The earlier talk was cut short, so she's going to do the entire talk over again on the 13th. It's about two hours long. Each lecture starts at 10 a.m. and both are free to the public. Seating is limited in the Trophy Room of the Daly Mansion. Call 363-6004 for more information.
