Last year, the Hamilton July 4th fireworks display nearly didn't happen.

The city provided over $4,000 and local businesses, organizations and individuals put up the rest to cover the $10,000 show.

This year, again, the City of Hamilton has set up an account and deposited $2,500 to get things started to pay for an aerial display above the Ravalli County Fairgrounds. And, it's up to us to get the rest of the money.

The fireworks order needs to be made in advance of the holiday, of course, so make it a New Year's Resolution to drop some money in the account. The city would like to order the fireworks in the first couple of months of 2013. the deadline is fast approaching.

Mayor Jerry Steele has appealed to the businesses of town, but the display brings in people from throughout the valley. So, even if you don't live in Hamilton, help out. By the way, it is still tax deductable.
