The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has awarded 14 grants in the state to replace older diesel school buses with newer, cleaner propane or diesel vehicles. In the Bitterroot Valley, the awards included two $22,500 awards to the Corvallis School District for propane vehicles and a $22,500 grant to Lone Rock for a new diesel bus.

The DEQ Director Shawn McGrath said in a news release it's "a step towards healthier air quality, not only for students riding these buses but for all of us across Montana. These types of investments offer significant fuel and cost savings and set an example for efforts to secure clean air."
