With a victory over Stevensville Thursday night, the Hamilton Broncs have advanced to the Western Divisional Class A Basketball tournament in Ronan next week. The Yellowjackets, meanwhile, will need to win a play-in game Monday to get to the tourney. In that Feb 20th at the Stevensville gym, the Yellowjackets stayed with the Broncs through the first half, with the lead changing a few times and Hamilton leading 26 to 23 at the half. Then, in the third quarter Hamilton outscored Stevensville 18 to 4 and, going into the final period, the Broncs led 44 to 27. They maintained that lead and the final score was Hamilton 60 Stevensville 32. Stevensville will go to Frenchtown for their Monday night play-in. The other valley Class A team, Corvallis, will also be in a play-in game on Monday, but their opponent has not been determined.

Looking at Class B basketball for the boys, the tournaments started this week. The Florence-Carlton Falcons lost their Feb. 18 play-in against Arlee 86 to 79 and will not be in this weekend's District action. And, our Class C valley teams Victor and Darby have started their District tournament in Frenchtown. the Darby Tigers defeated Lincoln 73 to 47 Wednesday and in overtime Thursday night, Darby slipped by Clark Fork 65-60. Victor, meanwhile, defeated Valley Christian 47-44 Wednesday, but the Pirates lost to Seeley Swan Thursday 55 to 38. Victor plays Friday morning at 11:45 against Lincoln.
