The Hamilton Broncs stayed alive at the Western A Divisional Basketball Tournament in Butte Friday, overwhelming the Libby Loggers in a morning loser-out game.

The Broncs scored impressively in the first quarter and led 19 to 5 at the beginning of the second period. They maintained that lead in the second quarter. At the half, the Broncs led the Loggers by 17 points, Hamilton 28 Libby 11. The third quarter went the same way, with Hamilton continuing to outscore Libby. At the end of that period, Hamilton led 42 to 21. The final score was Hamilton 53 Libby 35.

The win takes the Broncs into a Saturday morning game at 11:30 a.m. against the loser of the Friday night Butte Central - Dillon semi-final contest. The winner of the Saturday morning game will be playing in the Consolation game at 5 p.m. Four teams will be going to state from this tournament.

The boys Friday night semi-final games will be Frenchtown against Polson at 4 p.m. Friday and Butte Central against Dillon at 7 p.m. The winners will play in the Championship game Saturday at 8 p.m.

Also in Butte, the Hamilton Lady Broncs won their first game Thursday and are in the semi-finals tonight at 7 p.m. against the Ronan Maidens. KLYQ will have live play-by-play on 1240 KLYQ AM Radio, online at www.klyq.com and on the KLYQ cellphone app. KLYQ Radio is carrying as many Bronc and Lady Bronc games as possible during the three-day tournament.

The other semi-final girls game will be Browning versus Columbia Falls at 4 p.m. Friday. The winners of the semi-final games will play in the Divisional Championship game Saturday at 8 p.m.
