The Hamilton Lady Broncs hit a roadblock on their race through the State Class A girls high school basketball tournament in Great Falls Friday. They were outscored by a not-to-be-denied Hardin Lady Bulldog team by a score of 53 to 29.

The Lady Bulldogs scored early and fast, leading 15 to 6 at the end of the first quarter. Hardin stayed on target and led 27 to 9 at the half. Hamilton continued finding a lid on the basket and were behind the eastern Montana team 43 to 14 after three quarters. For the final minute of the game Coach Griffin put the five seniors on the court to close out the 2021 basketball season for the Lady Broncs. The final score was Hardin 53 - Hamilton 29.

Hamilton was hoping to match their Western Divisional record, where they lost their first game and won three in a row to take third in the division. However, Hardin was fired up, after losing to Billings Central 50 to 37 Thursday evening in a semi-final game. The championship game for the girls State tourney will be between Billings Central and Havre at 5 p.m. Saturday. Havre, who handed Hamilton their first loss of the tournament, defeated Columbia Falls Thursday evening. Columbia Falls then fell to Whitefish in a loser-out game previous to the Hamilton-Hardin game Friday. Whitefish will meet Hardin in the consolation game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Our congratulations to the Hamilton Lady Broncs for a fine season and their success to getting into the State Tournament again this year.
