The Hamilton Lady Broncs roared back in the fourth quarter to defeat Class A rival Whitefish in high school basketball Saturday afternoon at the Hamilton High School gym. The final score was Hamilton 35 and Whitefish 27.

The Lady Broncs were evenly matched with the Lady Bulldogs in the first quarter, with both teams scoring 6 points. At the half, Hamilton trailed by one point, 12 to 11 and they trailed by one point at the end of the third quarter, too. That score was 21 to 20 in favor of Whitefish.

Then, along came the fourth quarter, when the Lady Broncs dominated the play scoring 15 points to Whitefish's 6. They played a little "keep away" at the end of the game and won the contest 35 to 27.

The game was postponed from a week ago and replaced a game scheduled earlier between Hamilton and Dillon. That game will probably be rescheduled since it's a conference contest.

Meanwhile, the Hamilton Broncs were playing the home-standing Dillon Beavers Saturday afternoon and did not fare as well at the Lady Broncs. They trailed 16 to 5 at the half and with Dillon's strong 3rd quarter, trailed 40 to 15 to begin the final period. Their scoring picked up in that quarter, but not enough to erase the gap and the final score was Dillon Beaver 50 Hamilton Broncs 24.

The current schedule has Hamilton and Corvallis playing Thursday evening, with the girls at the Hamilton gym and the boys at the Corvallis gym. Both games will start at 7 p.m. Then, Saturday afternoon, the teams meet Columbia Falls with the boys at home and the girls traveling north.
