The Hamilton Lady Broncs came up against a high-scoring Havre Blue Pony team in their first game of the State Class A Girls Basketball Tournament in Great Falls on Wednesday. Hamilton lost the game, Havre 54 to Hamilton 37.

The Blue Ponies jumped to an early lead and were ahead by 12 points at the start of the second quarter, 15 to 3. The Lady Broncs began to come back with scoring, but still trailed by 19 at the half - Havre 30 to Hamilton 11. In the third quarter Hamilton was stronger, especially with Kearns at the free-throw line, but Havre was still ahead 48 to 27 as the fourth quarter started. The final tally was Havre 54 and Hamilton 37.

Havre goes on to a semi-final game Thursday against the winner of the Columbia Falls-Glendive (Dawson County) game. Hamilton's Lady Broncs will be in a loser-out game Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. against the loser of that Columbia Falls-Glendive game.
The Lady Broncs got to the State tournament by winning three games in a row, after losing their first game in the Western A Divisional Tournament in Butte last weekend. Could they do it again?

Other teams in the Montana State girls Class A tournament are Ronan, Hardin, Billings Central and Whitefish. The games are being played in conjunction with the Boys State Class A Tournament. Teams in that series of games are Laurel, Ronan, Dillon, Hardin, Polson, Fergus County, Billings Central and Butte Central.
