The annual Friends of the Bitterroot Public Library book sale is this week in the meeting room of the library on State Street in Hamilton. The books are not from the library stacks, but are donated from private collections throughout the area. The sale raises money for the library services and material. The volunteers will be organizing the books on Monday and Tuesday, with a special "Early Bird" sale from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, September 24. Admission to that session is $3. Wednesday through Saturday, September 25 to 28, there is no admission charge. When you've selected the books you want, they are stacked in a pile and you are charged $1 per inch. On Saturday, the popular Bag Sale happens, where you load up a grocery sack with books and are charged $3 per bag.

Hours of the sale are: Tuesday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you need more information, call the Bitterroot Public Library at 363-1670. Meanwhile, the North Valley Public Library in Stevensville is having its own book sale in late November. That library on Stevensville's Main Street is currently accepting donated books for the event.
